Malabar Diabetes Foundation
and Research centre is a modern state- of –the
–art diabetes hospital with several unique features
and keeping with accepted world standards of diabetes
care. The Centre aims to provide comprehensive diabetes
care at affordable cost and help prevent diabetic complications.
The hospital is equipped with a sophisticated modern
diagnostic laboratory with fully automated equipments
including BIO-RAD D-10 for accurate and quick results.
The other departments are Dept. of Foot care, Dept.
of Eye care, Dept of Dermatology, Dept. of Nutrition
& Dietetics including Obesity clinic, Dept. of Physiotherapy,
Yoga and Stress Management, and Dept. of Health Sciences
& Diabetes education.
The hospital also provides inpatient facility for
treatment of Diabetic complications.
Prof. K.P. Ramamoorthy M.D., Ph.D. is the Medical
Director & Research head. He was formerly the
Professor and head of the department of Medicine,
medical college, Calicut. He is a Research scientist
& Research guide, university of Calicut now working
as a senior Physician & Diabetologist. He has
several contributions and achievements in the field
of diabetes care. His vast knowledge and wide professional
experience would help to improve the quality of diabetes
care in the region.
‘Team MDF’ is headed by Dr. Shyam Sarat,
MD (General Medicine), PGDHS (Dip.Diab.) who is also
the chief consultant Diabetologist. He comes with
the reputation of having got his post-graduate degree
from Sree Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai. He
has the vast experience of having worked in Diabetes
Research Centre for the past several years. He is
a dedicated professional known for his sincere hard
work and organizational skills.
Prof. Nirmal Razalam, MS, who was formerly the professor
of Surgery, Medical College, and Calicut, is the head
of Department of Foot Care & Surgery.
Prof. Robbins’s , MD (D&V),Professor Emeritus,
Dermatology, Pariyaram Medical College ,is the consultant
Dermatologist who is available for consultation on
all Saturdays from 09.00 hrs to 1300 hrs.
Dr. Sunil Rajendran, MS.,DNB.,MRCS Consultant Vascular
Surgeon is available for consultation on all Wednesdays
from 03.00 pm to 06 pm.
Dr. Neethu Vijayan, a full time Lady Doctor is available
for consultation for the convenience of Ladies suffering
from Diabetes Mellitus and other complications.
