Research in Diabetes is ever expanding field. New medications and new methods of administering some tried and true medications make this a time of hope for people with diabetes. At Malabar Diabetes Foundation & Research Centre (MDF), research is not just a routine activity but rather a mission with two objectives. As anywhere else, the primary purpose of research is to gratify curiosity by disciplined activity, thereby leading to creation of new knowledge. But at MDF, we are also conscious of the role research can play in improving the quality of making awareness among the people.

This ongoing research projects focusing on how best the diabetic population can be saved from the complications related to
1. Eye
2. Kidney
3. Heart
4. Dyslipidmedia (Fat related problems)
5. Neurological problems
6. Erectile dysfunction

Conclusion:

The conclusion so far indicates that systematic, scientific disciplined approach from the part of the patient with the co-operation of MDF will be of immense help to the public at large.

  Pre-diabetes:
Since Pre-diabetes is a serious medical condition that can be treated we are applying our research focus into the same. Our analysis show that pre-diabetic can prevent the development of type 2 diabetes by making changes in their diet and increasing their level of physical activity. By following their life style modification as we teach them, in our awareness programme they may even be able to return their blood glucose levels to the normal range.
Our reasearch studies showed that some medications may delay the development of diabetes, (diet and exercise worked better). Just 40 minutes a day of moderate physical activity, coupled with a reduction in body weight by way of balanced diet pattern produced a reduction in diabetes.
We have resources for people with diabetes or at risk for diabetes at MDF. Those interested in pre-diabetes are welcome to contact
